LOCAL WESTERN NEW YORK AUTHOR AND LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR, BRENDA WHELAN, PENS NEW BOOK TO HELP PARENTS AND CHILDREN EXPLORE FEELINGS BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE PANDEMIC

"If we, as adults, are struggling with the huge weight of uncertainty caused by the pandemic, what about the children?"  It was this question that prompted Author, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Adjunct Canisius College Professor, Brenda Whelan, and her 14-year old co-author and illustrator Zoe Czernaik to author a new book entitled, "Do You Ever Feel..."

While not giving any specific answers or "how-to" advice, the book's short, open prompts are designed to be a vehicle to help parents sit with their child and explore the wide range of feelings they may have been experiencing as we are now well into the second year of a pandemic that has lasted longer than any of us could have ever imagined.  Brenda Whelan states, "My hope is that as people of all ages read it, conversations emerge and we all realize that we are not alone in the feelings we're feeling."  And, while it acknowledges the feelings we've all been experiencing through the pandemic, woven throughout the book are threads of joy, hope, and the promise that we have what we need within us to make it through this challenging time.
